A Christmas Carol tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter, cold-hearted old miser who despises Christmas and all things joyful. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him to change his ways or face a grim fate in the afterlife. In this production, the story of Scrooge’s journey–immortalized by Charles Dickens in 1843–will both remain true to the LTA holiday tradition and be inspired by the director’s dark and playful vision of Victorian England. The concept of this production brings the characters of the Charles Dickens story to life through the imagination of the Grandchild as they are read the story by their Grandparent. Estimated running time: 1 hour and 15 minutes without an intermission. Wednesdays – Fridays at 8 pm / *Saturdays & Sundays at 2 pm and 5 pm. Tickets: $25 Reserved Seating.
*Due to Alexandria’s annual Scottish Walk, there will not be a Saturday 2 pm performance on December 6.
While our version of A Christmas Carol is designed to be a child friendly production, it is as Charles Dickens himself titled it, a ghost story which includes many aspects that might be frightening to young children. Parents should use their own discretion about whether this show is appropriate for their young children over the age of 3.
